How much pattern can colour, spacing and repeated interlacement create?

Woven fields can hold enormous visual variety without one fixed motif system. Grid, plaid, stripe, reed-mat and small-mark families are separated from the underlying weave technique.

The book no longer calls the entire shelf “Plain Weave” because Reed-Mat and related visual families cross more than one current structural attribution.

This v3 book is an editorial research route. Object-level technique, dating and provenance remain on each textile record; pattern-name provenance is stored separately in the Pattern Catalog.
